Before this blog on TalkingTree.com, and before TalkingTree.com at all, I began a homepage with Geocities back in 1994, my first experience with homepage wizards or any kind of content management. Soon after getting hooked on HTML, I began building a laberynth of photo galleries and personal information, and after a couple of years I had managed to hack together some form of a Guestbook form on my own. Well, I know that Guestbooks are so 90's, but nevertheless I've rescued my Geocities Guestbook off Archive.org and am republishing it here...

Hi Steve - Haven't talk to you in a while. Your website has gone through some changes - good ones. What are you doing now (it appears that you are no longer working at the lab)? Are you still working at Tuft's Large Animal Hospital? I haven't been out there since last February (2000). I broke my elbow last February and my precious Sammie (my dog) had cancer - so I was busy.

Let me know what you are up to. Beth

Abysmal, yet serene, were the notes echoing in my wayward mind. Does love exist? In silence I pondered. Henceforth I will retrieve what is rightfully mine. My soul. The notes play on....The stars shine brighter. I stand riveted to what can not be. Embrace the tempestuous past. Forgive those who have scorned you and surrender. Melancholy notes drift through my unconscious.

I thought you might like this. It is still a work in progress, but I would love to know what you think of it.

Hi Steven,

i love your photos and I've posted them on my Madrid website; ... I have two sites; my personal website The Expatriate Cafe with a special newsletter for Teaching English in Madrid And a site (that I work for) called eDreams which is due to launch mid/end of December. Right now, only employees can access the site, but once it's been launched everyone will have access. It's a travel site that's hired people with a passion and a knowledge about one particular area of the globe and since I've lived in Madrid and am married to a MadrileÃ’o (i still live in Madrid 2 months out of the year but the rest of the time in the USA) they employed me to run a web page all about travel to Madrid via thier site. That being said, I found your site and thought it would make a great link to add to the eDreams page about Madrid. I hope you don't mind. Some of the photos (like the one from New Year's Eve) bring back memories.

I was just going through all the DHS email and came across your message to Stan. It is great to hear you are doing well. I wondered what happened to you. I looked at your web page pics, you look great. Looks like you dropped a few pounds since high school. (Judge For Yourself!)

High School seems like a lifetime ago. I am married with two children. They seem to take up a bulk of my time now. I graduated from with a degree in Computer Science. I started working for the Army as an Analyst back in 1988 and have been there ever since. I received my Masters Degree in 1995. The job keeps me on the move. I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world (not really my cup of tea, but it is still a good experience). We live in Harford County now, just moved out of Dundalk this year.

Your pictures have shown the beauty and character of Madrid. Especially of the people who give Madrid it's 'salero' or flavor per say. I would just like to thank you for such an accurate portrait of Spain and it's people. Eva Maria

I teach Spanish at DeSales High School, in Geneva, NY, and will send my students to your site. (Some of them already have a student trip to Spain reserved for February 2000.)

Your Plaza Mayor photos are superior quality! The wide angle/panoramic view #1 is so clear and colorful. And, I can almost recognize the various bars that your photographed from Plaza Mayor! I look forward to returning to your site.

Steve,

I love your photos from Madrid. In fact, they are making me very homesick for one of my favorite places in the world. I'm a Spanish teacher and I've included a link to your page on my Spain page for my students. Do you have any objection to teachers using your photos for teaching purposes....(non-commercial)?

Also, I noticed on your other pages that you lived in Rockport. I used to live in the Marblehead/Swampscott area and spent many a day browsing in Rockport and eating Lobster "on the rocks". Thanks for the great page.

What a great look at Madrid during these holidays. This is something we rarely see in photos. Usually we see the summer, full-bloom type things, but this was really something. I liked the "After" photo in Puerta del Sol, with all the broken bottles on the ground and the place was literally empty!! Must have been some wild time.

Thanks for the great page! I spent another 20 minutes yesterday morning before working going through the photos and STILL have a lot to go! I can't wait to see the rest. Good work! I'm inspired to buy a good camera to get such shots for myself this spring.

Hello from Vancouver Canada Steven!

I must say I truly enjoyed your pages, I've spent several hours in them now. I am a single very young 40yrs. planning a trip to Alaska in the spring of '99. I am especially interested in the Denali wilderness so it wwas wonderful to see it included!

Tell me, I really want to see Alaska on my own, no tour buses etc., just travel on my own schedual. Rather than hotels, I would like to rent cabins for more privacy, what do you know about this type of rental, say like in Fairbanks for instance? If you could email me back some more info, or perhaps we could chat sometime I would appreciate it.

Thanks again for he great trip through you site!

Hey Steve!!

Well, I've finally tracked you down...been attempting to locate you on and off for the past two years. What the heck have you been up to? I can't believe you're living in Denver. I was out there this past summer for a Wildlife conference for work. Actually, it was in Snowmass near Aspen. What a beautiful place!!! The Wildlife Society put in on. I've been working at APG Army base for the past three years. This past year I've spent up at Aberdeen instead of Edgewood. I've been doing research on the coyote population here. Hopefully, in March I'm going to try to trap some and put radio-collars on them. I love the job, it's thrilling...but I honestly believe that my true calling is with canine rescue/veterinary care/training. There is nothing that gives me the adrenaline rush or the feelings of satisfaction and completeness that I get from rescuing and/or helping animals. Research is fun, but observing just isn't the same as helping. Gotta run, take care of yourself!
