I don't suppose anyone has any guides for getting cfmx 7 up and running on fedora core 5?
I had attempted it when FC 5 first came out, but the installer for cfmx kept throwing errors. I gave up, but now have to get it sorted...

I have not yet installed CXFMX 701 on a clean install of FC5, although I have it working fine on an FC4->FC5 upgrade.

The more details you provide the more I might be able to assist.

Hi There,

I have a C5 machine with all the latest updates. I'm getting the same install problems as I have seen posted elsehwere but no solutions. This is the error I get when I try to install.

Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive... Configuring the installer for this system's environment... awk: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory /bin/ls: error while loading shared libraries: librt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Launching installer... grep: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory /tmp/install.dir.2953/Linux/resource/jre/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have made sure my /lib directory is in the PATH before running the install. I have also tried the 'cat' command from the Adobe forum which just leaves with a 0 legnth file. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Jon, You don't have the glibc package installed. Using the rpm switch for "--redhatprovides" you can determine which package should have installed which file. So run rpm --redhatprovides [filename] to get the package.

[root@host ~]# rpm --redhatprovides libdl.so.2
glibc-2.3.4-2
[root@host ~]# rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.3.4-2
[root@host~]#

Hi Steve,

When use the --redhatprovides option, it says no package provides libdl.so.2 yet I do have glibc-2.4-8 installed. I can't remove glibc, too many other programs depend on it. All the files the installer can't find are in the /lib directory.

Had this same problem, and found a simple enough (although a bit dirty) fix.
[root@shiva /]# cd [whereever the .bin is]
[root@shiva src]# cp coldfusion-702-lin.bin coldfusion-702-lin.bak
[root@shiva src]# cat coldfusion-702-lin.bak | sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > coldfusion-702-lin.bin
[root@shiva src]# ./coldfusion-702-lin.bin

and it'll work! (or at least, did for me)

I tried the fix posted by Krishna and that worked for me as well. But when I started the CF server, I got an error:
"There was an error while running the connector wizard
Connector installation was not successful"

The logfile shows the following:
/opt/coldfusionmx7/runtime/jre/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have the libpthread.so.0 on my server at /lib and another at /lib/i686/nosegneg

Now I am lost. Should I move the libpthread.so.0 file? I've read notes on manual connector configuration, but they don;t match my system. I've read install notes that suggest that I should have made different selections while installing (I should not have used user nobody, I should not have selected all the sub-components on install, and others.) I would retry the install, but I'm not sure if this will work as it says you can't install the server configuration if it is already installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

/Jonathan
