Fake Miniature Photography with the Tilt-Shift Technique (January 18, 2007 11:55 PM)

I've recently discovered Tilt-shift photography. The original technique involves actual camera and lens manipulation. By tilting a lens attached to a camera by a bellow an effect is achieved where a narrow slice of the image is in focus, producing an artificially shallow depth of field which makes the image appear to be a miniature or scale model of the real thing. Tilt-shift photos are said to be "faked".Its recently become popular to produce the same effect digitally using tools such as Photoshop...

Video clips of Valle de Benasque and Llanos del Hospital in Spain (June 9, 2006 12:24 PM)

Here are a couple short video clips from a valley in the central Pyrenees, or Pirineos, in Spain. These show the mountainous region close the border of Spain and France, within the Valle de Benasque. My wife and I were married in a small church in this region, since her father and his ancestors lived in and farmed the valley using traditional, non-technological tools and practices.

Recommendation for BodasDVD Wedding Photographer of Barcelona (March 20, 2006 12:35 AM)

I highly recommend Bodas DVD wedding photographers in Barcelona, Spain. They met with us on several occassions the year of the wedding to coordinate the plan and requirements, and they were very accomodating to our wishes. They even traveled 4 hours to the wedding without charging us, although we did provide a hotel room for them. Carlos and his collegues were very helpful and patient throughout our wedding day. The result was a one hour interactive DVD movie of our wedding and a beautiful, leather...

Ruta HÃŒpica - a walk along an ancient path in Spain (February 27, 2006 1:59 AM)

A walk on the Ruta HÃŒpica, an old road through the Benasque Valley of Spanish Pyrenees. This trail starts on El Camino del Sol near Eresue and passes along a north-western slope until it reaches Cerler, and ultimate Llanos del Hospital. Before modern transportation this valley was relatively isolated and had its own language, Patues. Many locals still speak Patues and the valley is trying to preseve the language by continuing to teach it in schools.Un camino antiguo por los Pirineos Aragones en ...

Panorama Maker from ArcSoft (January 22, 2006 8:24 PM)

I recommend ArcSoft Panorama Maker to create 360∞ panoramas from your photos. Output format is Quicktime (.mov), Flash (.swf), or just as a single large image (.jpg). The Quicktime movie evokes the sensation of being inside the image and looking around since you can zoom in, pan up and down, and pan sideways. The Flash output can only pan sideways. There are several features I like very much. Other than the choice of output format, I like the Automatic Exposure Correction in case the lighting vari...

Back in the saddle again (September 14, 2005 1:31 PM)

This week I've returned to the office from Macromedia's generous sabbatical program. For the last 45 days I've occupied myself with a wide range of activities, and surprisingly almost none of which had anything to do with ColdFusion. Now that's a vacation!
